I Need a Groundhog Day Fall Equivalent. I Put a Lot of Faith in Those Vermin.

The past couple days, the word “Fall” has crossed my mind. I’m not sure why, it’s been warm, the ice cream truck’s been around, children are not in school like I prefer them to be. Maybe it’s because my lavender decided it was time to shed all its flowers and look very hibernate-y, despite the fact that the temperatures were still in the nineties and I was watering it daily. Maybe it’s because I deigned to go to the mall last weekend and there was plaid and orange and fall-type clothes everywhere. Or maybe it’s because my taste buds ready to move on from mulberry and get to pumpkin pie, already. Whatever it is, I’ve been dismissing the word thinking, “Well, it’s still summer.”

Then, last night, I went out for happy hour. As I am apt to do. And as I left, the wind went straight up my skirt in a very inappropriate way and I shivered for the first time in months (over-air-conditioned hotels and boutiques not included) and was like, “I think it’s fall.”

And then this morning it was cold and dark and dreary and the high today is supposed to be 58. And it’s raining. It’s also cozy, but it makes me nervous. I am not ready for months of this. A day? Oh yes. It makes napping so that much more delicious. Maybe even two days. But I am so not ready to give up my sunshine, my morning runs, my no-jacket-needed ice cream trips, my pretty flowers outside. I HAVE ONLY MADE IT TO THE POOL ONCE!

Sigh.

Please tell me it’s unnaturally warm and likely to stay light out for many more months where you are. I would really be reassured.

High of 100° today. It’s unnaturally warm and likely to stay light out for many more months to come. Don't expect any rain here until October at the earliest.

I'm loving it. But then I am a freak originally from the Pacific NW ;)

Gives me time to do all the nesting type activities I've been prone to this week. (Yesterday we got proof that this mindchange is being hormonally driven :)) Still nothing on my blog about that, please!

Well, it is currently pretty warm and sunny today, but I have absolutely no faith in Washington summers, so I imagine I will be shivering and spiraling deep into Seasonal Affective Disorder pretty soon here...

I'm ready for pumpkin pie too - then Fall is my favorite season! I never us a hotel pool because to keep it clean you wouldn't believe all the chems they put into it.

Thanks for not mentioning that the aspens are already starting to turn, and sending me into complete homesickness!
Down here on the Caribbean? Well, it's hot it's humid and we are starting to see our share of the storms following Fay. At least I think that is what they are.
Sun? Plenty to go around :)

no, you totally were at the pool twice. At least with me!

I liked the change - def good sleeping in/napping weather...(and to Ramblin' Red, I'd like to say -- the Pacific NW was brutally hot on the day this post was written!)

Who knew Fall was a four letter F word? Here there are a couple of anxious maples that have gone scarlet at the top and the morning temperatures are in the low 60s and occasionally the high 50s. School starts next week (my turn to sigh-I'm not ready to be indoors all day long). If you get into the Groundhog Day reach through and pull me in too, would you?

We hit 68 today, which is comfortable. But it rained all day. Big fat drops. I loved it. Momma no like hot days. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love Halloween and pumpkin everything. Instead of beer ice cream, I'll be making cranberry and pumpkin ice creams. Ooooh, and eggnog.

Crap, why is everyones blogs making me hungry today?
