It's Free to Say

I try to avoid politics on this blog. Mostly because I have other things to antagonize people about. (Like the dearth of cupcakes in my life, recently. Why don’t more people do random acts of cupcaking?)

But tonight I can’t help it. I’ve had a glass of wine with too many people’s extended families and I am just about to wretch. People are in town for the wedding. They’re small town. They’re Republican. I get it. That’s fine. What's not fine is just saying random shit like, “The Muslims are trying to take over America.”

Did anyone else just throw up a little in their mouth? I’m actually fine if our president practices Muslim. Or atheism, Catholicism, or Wiccan. Just as long as they don’t try to prevent my right to practice the solemn religion of meh. Or my right to say that. Or the press’ right to question meh as an actual religion.

I cannot believe they actually think there’s a doubt about Obama’s intentions. They went on and on about him being Muslim, and questioning whether he was actually even born in the U.S. He was. It’s been proven. He wouldn’t be allowed to run for the office of president, otherwise.

WTF, people. I believe in your right to question a candidate. But once your argument has been proved FALSE, it’s time to move on. You just sound ignorant.

GLARG.

Despite the fact that I've actually posted a sort of political plea on my own site, I think when it comes to this election, we're either preaching to the choir or talking to the deaf...

Yes...indeedy, I'll agree with every last drop, er word, that you've shared here.

Note to the ignorant masses: People, if your political fact-checking can be done on SNOPES.COM, your source is un-freaking-reliable. And you're just dumb.

Eh, i say let 'em have it. Maybe the Muslims will do a better job.

Kidding, i kid...

I just give people who make stupid-ass statements like this my test tube look, as in, 'What test tube did you just crawl out from?'

I am officially turned off of the whole campaign, to be quite honest. Sarah Palin. Really? That is the best they could come up with.

It is a little sad that people can't move on and find something better to rag about - it's actually pathetic...

Dear Princess -

I just randomly re-met a girl from middle school on facebook - and one of her recent facebook updates mentioned that "sarah palin- finally a candidate I can get behind!" OMG, I DID throw up in my mouth. And mentioned a lot of negative things to her re: palin/mccain (after ascertaining she was serious) such as the fact that Obama will lower your taxes (even while giving poor working families, like hers, more benefits) esp if you earn less than $600k (which most of us do, esp since most of the large banks have imploded in the past 48 hrs)..... she hates me now. OH WELL.

yeah, Matt left for Paris at 9:50, so he left for Newark airport at 6:30. Effing bastard is flying first class, so I don't feel bad re: the time he spent at the airport in the first class lounge. But the second he left, I headed to my friend Kat's (theengineer.tumblr.com) and drank my face off, so here I am ranting on your comments. Sorry!! Did you see Obama was in GJ and Pueblo today??
