Monday Night Is a Dark, Dark Time

1) I did. I’m not even sorry. I read Twilight this weekend. It was awesome. I squashed any feminist inklings I had deep into my pink slippers and singed them shut with chamomile tea and have ever since been fantasizing about unhealthy, passionate attachments to very pale and strong Funasauri with sharp teeth.

2) Sugar has been uncharacteristically playful and talk-y today. And I realized that sometimes I like it a lot when she is a little more feisty and less-lounge-y princess-y. I like it when she does something with her life, when she doesn’t let these four very small walls bear down on her and turn her into a slug and instead reaches out and creates action of her very own, turning her slightly crazy-eyed and purr-y.

I would like to be crazy-eyed and purr-y.

I became obsessed with the idea, and finally, after much grumping about work, I decided to put a plan into action. I would do something. I was off on an adventure. I managed to take about four steps outside this evening before The Universe was like, “You don’t want an adventure, you big pansy,” and I was unable to breathe because it was, like, four whole fucking degrees outside and this princess got chilly. The tea is being re-heated as I type.

I told myself I would wait until next weekend to read New Moon, but this is already turning out to be an extraordinarily long week. I may not make it.

Ha ha, how's this for a confession: husband and I BOTH read the entire twilight series ON HONEYMOON! I love it. Seen the movie twice and can't wait for the next instalment. Shameless. Good luck holding out till the weekend, you won't believe what happens next! (Evil chuckle...)

I need to get on the Twilight bandwagon....

I never read Twilight, and I refused to see the movie. I don't know, maybe it makes me feel different and special not to join the bandwagon.
But then, that was my attitude about the Harry Potters before I got into them, and now I'm a huge fan.
If *you* tell me I should, I'll read them.

You have been assimilated into the entity. Resistance was futile.

Red Frame- My husband's totally read all four books already. He (and his sister) are the ones who coaxed me into reading them. She read them all on HER honeymoon, too!

Princess E- You do. Just suck it up, it's worth it.

Lily- You should read them, too. You will like them. The writing's terrible, the character development is minimal, but she hits on these quintessential teenage girl fantasies that I think we all still secretly harbor somehow.

Meno- It's so true. Also, I love you.

Wow. I keep hearing how addictive these books are - do they sprinkle the pages with crack? Do you get the shakes if you don't read it? What's the deal?

I had dismissed them as the newest tween craze, but maybe I'll have to rethink that judgment.

You got me...I'll read them, but I'll have to figure a way to disguise the book cover when I read in public...

Sigh - I'm in the very small minority of people who HATED Twilight. Too much lovey-dovey sitting in the park staring into each other's eyes, not enough conflict/action.

love you too!

Oh, sweet goodness, I loved those books. It was pointed out to me by the guy at my video store, that you had to have been a 16 year old girl at some point for the whole "crazy-intense" feelings to kick in. This was before I read the books, and was trying to decide if I really wanted to jump on board the crazy train. I'm so glad I did now.
