Bon Appetit!

Eggnog is a partisan issue. I don’t know too many people who are very meh about eggnog. (side note: meh was recently added to Merriam Webster! Who knew?*) You either love eggnog or you hate it. I love it. The Funasaurus hates it. Naturally I buy lots of it the second it appears in the stores (last night) and keep it there until it curdles sometime in March. It makes my husband cringe in a sweet way. I didn’t realize it was so divisive until recently, and so now I am curious. Which camp do you fall into?

A)    A)   Yummy, creamy holiday love drink

B)    B)   Old man fart goo in a deceptively milk-like box

On that note, my house looks lovely! The cleaning ladies were so much better than my grandmother’s! I love them. And as one wise sage I know said, “The skill of a cleaning lady is inversely proportional to their fashion sense.” It’s true, the two who cleaned our house were rocking very awesome mullets. Both of them.

I literally danced around clapping my hands when they left, examining things that have never, ever been so clean. Like the floor trim in our bathroom.  With such an empty, sparkling clean counter beckoning me, I decided it was time to get a head start and prepare the brine for the turkey we’re having tomorrow as an early Thanksgiving with family before they go out of town. Naturally I spilled honey all over my newly-mopped kitchen floor. Then I stepped in it. Then Sugar raced through. I’m pretty sure there’s now honey in our carpet.

I’m saving up to have the cleaning folks come back as soon as friggin’ possible. Also, if you’re coming for dinner tomorrow, be sure to wash your socks when you get home.

Cheers!

*I recently learned that the dictionary, since, like, 1961 has been descriptive as opposed to prescriptive. That is to say, it gives the definition as used in the common, current evolution of the language. It is NOT, necessarily, the authoritative resource on correct useage in formal English! Oh! The madness!

I had eggnog cake yesterday!

My housekeeper comes on Tuesday, my favorite weekday. She even does my laundry and irons. An added bonus is that she is one of Hanna's very favorite people.

I'd give up cable and long distance before I'd give up Christina.

I find eggnog gagging. So i cut it with brandy.

At the risk of sullying my sweet but competent old lady image, I confess that I love both eggnog (I make my own, though) AND fruitcake - the dark, rich kind that's made with molasses, six kinds of cut up dried fruit, three kinds of nuts, and spends the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas wrapped in a brandy-soaked cloth.

I learned to be a "housekeeper" at age 11 when I started working. I wish I'd had customers as grateful as you!

I think eggnog is icky. But Jason loves it. He bought his first carton several weeks ago.

Have you ever had Promised Land eggnog? They sell it at Whole Foods around here. They have rocking milk in many yummy different flavors, and I hear their eggnog is delicious (for those of you who like eggnog).

Meh, is indeed a very well used word in our house. So glad to know that I am actually using a real word!

And eggnog=creamy love drink.....if spiked with Rum. We loves it here at Casa Sacks and it is usually one of the prime contributers to my holiday weight gain. However, being that we are in the Holyland this year I guess I am going to have to break down and make my own. I really don't like the whole raw egg thing either. Dammit. I hadn't even thought about that until now. THanks a lot!!!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving feast!

By them I meant the cleaning ladies. :)

LOW FAT eggnog, thank you very much. It's not as thick, which means I can chug it faster! Yummies.

I am a big fan of Silk Nog (the soy stuff), which we call "Snog" around here. I also buy it as soon as it becomes avail (we've had 2 cartons in the fridge for a couple of weeks now). I know that people who can drink cow milk do NOT like Snog but I think it's fantastic. And my favorite thing to do with it is pour a bunch of Irish creme in it (alas, not this christmas!).

I loves me some eggnog - but like JoJo prefer the thinner variety just because it is easier to drink. Also: I love the eggnog that Southern Comfort makes each holiday season...mmm.

I will agree, too that eggnog is a partisan issue. Thankfully we are all united at casa del Meyer.

My mom's best housekeeper not only dressed bad but was certifiably crazy.

I don't even know how you came up with "old man fart goo." A true eggnog lover would never say such a thing.

Honestly...I never tasted that Eggnog thing.
It's not very big over here, I guess.
I heard about it, and what I do remember, is that it contains raw eggs and that totally icks me. Eeeew.
